he was good at what he did and even if his violent tendencies seemed a little more like an extreme trauma response than an actual healthy personality trait, i can't say i didn't admire him for them sometimes. not to gush or anything because that would be gross but dito was a really fun person and im really sorry he had to go through that shit with five. It isn’t even the insanely difficult finale.

Do you want to know what is truly the most disappointing aspect of Drakengard 3? The single biggest let down you have to deal with? It isn’t the gameplay. But if you can stick with it, you’ll be treated to something completely unlike anything else. But you need to be able to look beyond gameplay to see that. However you may feel, Drakengard 3 is a truly one of a kind experience. But my biggest takeaway from this experience is a creator trying to see how much he can get away with under the company he works for. But only Taro truly knows what that purpose was. This is a video game that was made with a purpose. To be blunt, Nier is rated PG compared to this. That quote was in the back of my mind the entire time I was playing. Yoko Taro has said himself that he makes weird games for weird people and it’s this game where you can see that the most. Even as much as I enjoyed this I can’t think of a single person I can recommend it to that hasn’t already played it themselves. You’ll probably know if you can keep playing this game or not by the time you kill the first major boss. It doesn’t back down from sex, violence, or any other content you would be hard pressed to find in an RPG from Square Enix. It’s not afraid of making you scratch your head or making you uncomfortable. I think if you come into it looking for that, you’re going to bounce off of it before you even get the first ending.

You’re also free to pick two of your allies known as Disciples to accompany you into battle.ĭrakengard 3 isn’t a game that’s going to be remembered for it’s gameplay. The developers themselves must have known this was cool too because you’ll have plenty of opportunities to do it in every level. As long as you can use Intoner Mode, you can change the music. In addition to invincibility, faster attack speed, and higher damage, you even add vocals to whatever song is currently playing which makes even this basic of a gameplay element really stand out. After bathing in enough of the blood of your enemies, there’s a buff you can give yourself called Intoner Mode that is activated by pressing 元 and R3 at the same time.

There’s more creativity here than you might initially expect when you find out about the launchers and the mid combo weapon switching and you’ll no doubt have your favorites that you gravitate toward and want to upgrade first. Each of the weapons in each category even have their own moves and traits unique to them. You string together simple combos of light and heavy attacks that you mix up by using 4 vastly different weapon types. But I wouldn’t go as far as to call it anything less than fun. The simplistic gameplay is in stark contrast to the complex narrative.

On the ground, you’re mostly just getting Zero from point A to B in a series of very linear levels with a few nooks and crannies for secret treasure chests. The actual gameplay here is part hack and slash and part rail shooter. Or she could try to communicate more effectively.

When you always cover for someone else failing to be responsible, I feel like you're inadvertently coddling them, and they won't know how to solve their own problems. By that I mean she could've requested to live in a different house while her sisters sort out their own mess.

While I can understand the frustration of living with careless and irresponsible people, she also doesn't do anything to change her circumstance. She projects her insecurities onto her sisters. She points out the flaws of everyone else to make herself feel better, but she makes it clear that she feels inferior towards all of them.

Her cynicism reminds me of Dito's novella. She is extremely pessimistic, envious and resentful. She spends a majority of this novella complaining about having to clean up after the others while judging them harshly. In this scenario, all the intoner sisters are living together in a house temporarily and some of the others are being rather irresponsible, mostly Five, Three and Two (unintentionally). The novella lets us take a peak into her thoughts and boy, is it something. Now THIS is really where we get to see who Four is.
